European Parliament president arrives in Kyiv for planned address to parliament

European Parliament President Roberta Metsola has arrived in Kyiv, according to Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.

Honcharenko wrote on social media that Metsola is expected to deliver a speech to Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada during her visit.

“European Parliament President Roberta Metsola is in Kyiv. A speech in the Verkhovna Rada is planned,” he said.

Further details of the visit have not yet been made public.

The visit comes as several media outlets report that the European Commission has indefinitely postponed the planned 19th package of sanctions against Russia, which was initially expected to be presented on 17 September.
