G7 leaders warn Russia against using chemical, biological and nuclear weapons in Ukraine

Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries have warned Russia against using ‘chemical, biological and nuclear weapons or related materials’ in Ukraine in a joint statement issued on March 24.

The officials condemned Russia’s military attack on the Ukrainian population and civilian infrastructure, saying they would work on gathering evidence of war crimes.

“We welcome the investigations of international mechanisms, including by the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court,” they noted.

The leaders pledged to take ‘further steps’ to reduce their reliance on Russian energy and to broaden their support for Ukraine.
