A protest is underway outside Georgia’s Ministry of Education, where students have gathered to oppose the government’s proposed education reform.

Participants argue that the changes are not designed to improve the education system but are instead “anti-national” in nature.

“This is not a reform; it is an anti-reform - not only for the education sector but for the overall system. It is more of a punishment for disobedient professors and students who are critical of the government. Among many other reasons, they want to dismantle every island of freedom within universities, where free thought is formed,” one protester said.
