Two foreign nationals arrested at Tbilisi airport for large-scale drug smuggling

Georgia’s Central Criminal Police Department, in cooperation with the Customs Department of the Revenue Service, has arrested two foreign citizens on charges of illegally purchasing, storing and attempting to import a particularly large quantity of narcotic substances into the country.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs on Wednesday said the suspects - H.I., born in 2005, and B.M., born in 1989 - were detained at Tbilisi International Airport after law enforcement officers inspected their luggage.
During the search, police seized 1.2 kilograms of marijuana packed in hermetically sealed bags, as well as 91 electronic cigarettes containing liquid with narcotic substances, the ministry said.
An investigation has been launched under Articles 260 and 262 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carry penalties of up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
