GD polls: Kaladze to receive 60%, Melia 29% in Tbilisi mayoral race

The Georgian Dream (GD) ruling party has released its polls today, which says that its candidate for Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze will receive 60.1 percent of votes in the October 2 municipal elections, while his main opponent from the united opposition, head of the United National Movement (UNM) partly Nika Melia will come second with 29.2 percent of votes. 

 

GD MP Mikheil Sarjveladze stated during the presentation of the polls that the ruling party will receive 47.7 percent of votes in the elections, while the UNM – 25.2 per cent. 

 

The UNM stated earlier, based on its polls, that the GD will receive less than 35 percent of votes in the elections and that the opposition will win the race in most of the big cities.
