Georgia has confirmed three deaths out of 1,000 confirmed cases of a new strain of coronavirus dubbed as Omicron, Deputy Health Minister Tamar Gabunia stated earlier today.

She said that a survey will beplanned in the near future to specify an exact number of Omicron deaths.

The country has reported more than 13,000 cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

Health officials say that Omicron accounts for more than 90 percent of new cases.

The government calls on the public to get the Covid jab, and encourage risk groups and elderly population to receive the booster shot.

Coronavirus has killed more than 14,000 in Georgia since April 2020.

According to the recent NDI polls 41 percent of the people are against vaccination.

1,333,606 individuals have gotten at least one shot of any vaccine in the country since March 2021, while 1,219,721 people have been fully inoculated, which is about 42 percent of the country’s population.
