Georgia records 23,664 new cases of Covid, 42 deaths

Georgia has reported 23,664 new cases of coronavirus and 42 deaths in the past 24 hours. 

Omicron accounts for the majority of new cases. 

77,584 tests were conducted across the country in the past 24 hours, including 47,972 with antigen testing and 29,612 PCR.

The total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country in February 2020 is 1,250,108.

As of February 2, the daily positivity rate is 30.05%, 24.27% for the last 14 days and 27.36% for the last 7 days.

A total of 15,102 people have died from the virus in the country since April 2020.

The new cases for Tbilisi and regions are as follows: 

Tbilisi – 11,543 cases, 

Adjara – 2 334, 

Imereti – 3 413, 

Kvemo Kartli – 1 296, 

Shida Kartli – 1 115,

Guria – 537, 

Samegrelo – Zemo Svaneti – 1 554, 

Kakheti – 851, 

Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 472, 

Samtskhe-Javakheti – 462,

Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 87. Active cases stand at 196,589.  5,723 people are undergoing treatment in hospitals.
