Georgia reports record high 24,201 daily cases of Covid, PM re-infected

Georgia has recorded a record-high 24,201 daily cases of Covid-19 of 85,191 tests in the past 24 hours. Georgia PM Irakli Garibashvili is among the infected individuals. 

Garibashvili, who earlier had Covid-19, now contracted an Omicron strain of the virus. 

He is fully vaccinated and is working remotely. 

164,572 remain infected with coronavirus in Georgia as of now.

New cases for Tbilisi and regions are as follows:

Tbilisi – 11,800 cases 

Adjara – 2,204 cases 

Imereti – 3,134 cases 

Kvemo Kartli – 1,199 cases 

Shida Kartli – 1,461 cases 

Guria – 473 cases 

Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti – 1,628 cases 

Kakheti – 1,059 cases 

Mtskheta-Mtianeti – 683 cases 

Samtskhe-Javakheti – 471 cases 

Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti – 89 cases

157,087 individuals are undergoing treatment at home. 

1,221,340 people have been fully vaccinated in Georgia since March 2021.
