The Tbilisi-based Georgian Airways will launch flights from Moscow to Nice via Tbilisi starting from Wednesday, with the ticket price hitting about 535 dollars.

The Russian TASS news agency claims in addition to Nice, the Georgian airlines operates transit flights from Moscow to Paris, Amsterdam, Vienna, Thessaloniki, Tel Aviv, Milan, Berlin and Larnaca.

The Georgian Airways has faced a domestic backlash for its move to fly to Russia following Moscow’s move in May to lift travel and visa restrictions with Tbilisi on the backdrop of its war with Ukraine, with Tbilisi accepting both the flights and the visa free regime considering “security and economic” factors.

In response Kyiv imposed sanctions on Georgian Airways, with Tbilisi evaluating the move as “unfair”.
