Georgian Dream’s parliamentary majority leader Irakli Kirtskhalia: More than 1.12 million voters who backed Georgian Dream in 2024 are the strongest source of legitimacy

The strongest source of legitimacy is the more than 1.12 million people who voted for Georgian Dream in 2024, parliamentary majority leader and Georgian Dream faction chairman Irakli Kirtskhalia said during an appearance on the television programme Open Air.

Responding to a question about political legitimacy, Kirtskhalia also addressed Article 78 of Georgia’s Constitution and the European values he said his party seeks to uphold.

“When we talk about legitimacy and Article 78, we must remember that Europe is founded on principles and values,” Kirtskhalia said.

“We want the principles and values upon which Europe was built. As for what Europe and its current bureaucracy stand for today, we can see the response from European citizens themselves. We want a Europe where freedom of speech and expression are protected,” he added.
