Georgian Foreigh Minister David Zalkaliani has hosted Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, who currently serves as the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, in Tbilisi today and stated after the meeting that Georgia and Ukraine are facing common challenges.

“At today’s meeting, we spoke about Russia’s premeditated aggression against Ukraine and noted that Georgia strongly condemns this aggression which grossly violates the norms of international law, including international humanitarian law, and undermines international order and the architecture of European security,” Zalkaliani said.

He stated that the high-level visit  “clearly confirms” that “OSCE supports Georgia especially in this difficult time.”

Zalkaliani stated that Georgia and Ukraine have similar security challenges and added that the situation in Georgia’s Russian-occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions has also been discussed at the meeting.

Rau thanked Georgia for its support of Ukraine.

“I thank the Georgian government and people of Georgia for their support for Ukraine. The OSCE commends Georgia for its unconditional support for the OSCE/ ODIHR Special Mission in Ukraine – Tbilisi’s offer to assist OSCE in the evacuation process,” Rau said.

He is scheduled to leave Georgia later today.
