Georgian Olympic champion Zurab Zviadauri, who is charged with premeditated murder, was released on 50,000 GEL bail earlier today by Telavi court in eastern Georgia.

Jaba Jangirashvili, another suspect arrested on charges of negligent possession of a weapon in the same case, was released on 5,000 GEL bail.

The prosecutor’s office filed charges against Zviadauri in August of the year.

He was arrested on August 17, 2021 after a verbal dispute which led to physical confrontation in Tsinandali village of Kakheti. Zviadauri allegedly shot the man who earlier shot his brother dead. In total four individuals were wounded in the incident, while three of the four died.
