Georgia witnessed one of the biggest political frauds, which will serve as a textbook example in political science of how a bureaucratic machine can operate against a country, Parliamentary Majority Leader Irakli Kirtskhalia said while discussing transparency legislation on the television programme Open Air.

“I am convinced that what we witnessed was one of the biggest political frauds and will become a textbook example in political science of how a bureaucratic machine can act against a country,” Kirtskhalia said.

According to the parliamentary majority leader, opponents of the legislation were unable to engage the government in a substantive debate over the proposed laws and instead sought to portray them as Russian-inspired.

“We have seen what was being funded in our country. We have also seen the rhetoric and the legislative frameworks being developed by other self-respecting countries,” Kirtskhalia said.
