Georgian Patriarch Ilia II congratulates Queen Elizabeth II on her 70 years on the throne

Georgian Patriarch Ilia II has congratulated Queen Elizabeth II on her 70th anniversary of the accession to the throne, stating in a letter that the ‘period is special and most significant’ in the history of Great Britain, ‘as well as in the history of royal dynasties.’

“I wish you continued success in your high and honorable office,” said the Patriarch.
In her text dedicated to the date the Queen said that “the sixth February is a day that, even after 70 years, I still remember as much for the death of my father, King George VI, as for the start of my reign.”
“As we mark this anniversary, it gives me pleasure to renew to you the pledge I gave in 1947 that my life will always be devoted to your service.”
Elizabeth II also always sends her congratulations to Patriarch Ilia II marking anniversaries of his consecration as patriarch.
