Georgian PM congratulates journalists on professional day, says pluralism of media “substantially improved” under his gov’t

Georgian prime minister Irakli Garibashvili on Tuesday congratulated journalists on their professional day and commended the efforts of his government that as he said had “substantially improved” media pluralism in the country. 

He noted the activity of journalists, “which is based on responsibility to society and high standards of professional ethics, is key to the democratic development of our country and the construction of its European future”.  

 

The PM added the journalists “not only serve the most important task of informing the society, but also make a special contribution to the development of political and public culture, establishment of democratic values”. 

“Our government and political team are well aware of the great national importance of your profession. The proof of this is the reforms carried out by the Georgian Dream that have resulted in the substantially improved media pluralism and the degree of freedom”.
