German Embassy backs ‘free, peaceful and European Georgia’ in Independence Day message

The Embassy of Germany in Georgia has congratulated Georgia on Independence Day, highlighting support for a “free, peaceful and European Georgia”.
The embassy on Tuesday said the declaration of independence on 26 May 1918 marked the beginning of a new chapter in Georgia’s history, characterised by a desire for freedom and democracy.
The embassy added that Germany, both historically and today, supported those striving for a free, peaceful and European Georgia.
Georgia marks Independence Day on 26 May, commemorating the restoration of statehood declared by the Democratic Republic of Georgia in 1918.
