Germany’s foreign ministry has summoned Georgia’s chargé d’affaires in Berlin in protest at what it described as “groundless accusations and aggressive rhetoric” by the Georgian government against the German ambassador in Tbilisi.

In a statement, the ministry said it had delivered a “clear message” to the Georgian representative, insisting that the attacks on the ambassador were “unacceptable and must stop.”
