Opposition politician Gia Japaridze has accused the ruling Georgian Dream party of hiring lobbyist groups to create the appearance of meetings with senior US officials, including the Trump administration.
“Taxpayer money is being used to hire lobbyist groups, who then try to pave the way to the Trump administration,” Japaridze said. “Previously, a similar incident occurred when lobbyists informed Georgian Dream that the Vice President would attend the Olympic opening ceremony. Delegates went, took photos, and presented it as a meeting - when in reality, no meeting took place. Such breakfasts, lunches, and dinners are just opportunities for lobbyist groups to sell their services.”
