Georgia's Interior Ministry has arrested one person on charges of failing to report a particularly serious crime in connection with the murder of teacher Gigla Avaliani in the country’s capital city of Tbilisi.
The Ministry said the suspect possessed information about the attack on Avaliani and learned details of the crime shortly after it was committed but failed to notify law enforcement authorities.
The suspect was arrested in the western Guria region following investigative and police operations carried out by officers from the Tbilisi Police Department.
The crime is punishable by up to seven years in prison, the Ministry said.
