Lemonjava added that Ivanishvili’s foreign policy concept portrayed Georgia as having no meaningful place in global politics

Giga Lemonjava, one of the leaders of the opposition Coalition for Change, on Wednesday said that the ongoing geopolitical shifts represented a direct signal, first and foremost, to the Kremlin and, by extension, to Bidzina Ivanishvili.

Lemonjava claimed the concept of a multipolar world and multipolar politics, which he alleged Ivanishvili had used for years to mislead Georgian citizens, does not exist in reality.

“What is happening globally - these visible geopolitical shifts - is a direct signal primarily to the Kremlin and accordingly to Ivanishvili,” Lemonjava said.

He argued that the notion of a multipolar world promoted by Ivanishvili has served to justify what Lemonjava described as pragmatic rhetoric masking national betrayal.

“In simple terms, what Ivanishvili is saying is that betraying the homeland is pragmatic policy,” Lemonjava said. “He claims to be balancing the interests of major powers in this region and in Georgia.”

Lemonjava added that Ivanishvili’s foreign policy concept portrayed Georgia as having no meaningful place in global politics.

“Years ago, Ivanishvili referred to Georgia as a ‘small village,’ suggesting that our place in big politics does not exist,” he said.
