Tbilisi City Court has sentenced civil activist and doctor Giorgi Akhobadze to 25 days in administrative detention.

The ruling was delivered by Judge Manuchar Tsatsua.

Investigators accused Akhobadze of insulting Vato Shakarishvili in a post published on Facebook.

On 8 July, Akhobadze was fined ₾3,000 ($1,143) in connection with the case.

“I will spend 25 days resting, but if they think I will come out with a different opinion, they are very much mistaken,” Akhobadze said.
