Giorgi Butikashvili, a member of the Coalition for Change, on Thursday said the ruling Georgian Dream party had failed to implement any of the European Union’s recommendations and instead intensified pressure on non-governmental organisations.

Butikashvili noted the Government was required to submit a progress report to the EU demonstrating concrete steps, including repealing the so-called “Russian law,” halting repressions, and engaging in dialogue with pro-Western forces, including NGOs.

“What the Georgian Dream submitted is a lie. None of these demands have been fulfilled. On the contrary, the situation has worsened, and Georgian Dream has started persecuting Georgian NGOs”, he said.
