The Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia has allocated 1,500,000 GEL from its budget to address infrastructure needs in compact settlements where internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Abkhazia are housed, officials announced on Thursday.
According to the decision by Abkhazia’s government chair Giorgi Jincharadze, the project will cover roof repairs, façade rehabilitation, upgrades to utility systems, and improvements to shared spaces in IDP residential areas.
The infrastructure work will begin this year and continue into 2026, with the total project value expected to reach 4 million GEL.
Government representatives said the priorities were identified through active communication with residents during visits by Jintcharadze and members of the Abkhazian government earlier this year.
