Georgian Education Minister Givi Mikanadze and Chinese Vice Minister of Education Ren Youqun on Saturday discussed plans for expanding bilateral cooperation and launching new joint projects in education, science and youth affairs.

The Ministry's press office said the two sides reviewed future cooperation plans and agreed to strengthen ties through a range of new initiatives.

The participants agreed that a new cooperation agreement between the two ministries would be signed later this year, setting out key areas of collaboration in education, science and youth policy.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the close and friendly relations between Georgia and China and highlighted the importance of deepening educational partnerships.

Officials also announced plans for a joint working group comprising representatives from the two ministries to hold its first meeting in the near future, with the aim of advancing cooperation in the education sector.

Discussions focused on strengthening links between universities and vocational education institutions, organising international youth camps, integrating artificial intelligence into teaching and learning processes at all levels of education and promoting the development of digital technologies.

The parties also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest and expressed readiness to further expand cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Georgian and Chinese officials agreed to continue dialogue and schedule additional meetings in the future.
