Grigol Liluashvili, former head of Georgia’s State Security Service, has been ordered to remain in custody as a preventive measure, a court decision confirmed.
The ruling was issued by Judge Arsen Kalatozishvili. The hearing was held behind closed doors and Liluashvili did not attend the session.
Liluashvili was arrested on Tuesday by the Georgian Prosecutor’s Office. He faces charges which involve the receipt of a particularly large bribe by a premeditated group. If convicted, he faces a prison sentence ranging from 11 to 15 years.
