Man arrested in western Georgia for large-scale drug offenses

The offenses are punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment

Police in the Guria region have arrested a man born in 1971 on charges of illegal possession, storage and facilitating the distribution of large and particularly large quantities of narcotic substances, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Thursday. The suspect, identified as V.G., has a prior criminal record.
During a search of the suspect’s residence, law enforcement officers seized various types of narcotic drugs as evidence, including methadone, dried marijuana and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), authorities said.
Police also confiscated equipment used for drug production, as well as a specially arranged greenhouse for cultivating cannabis plants.
The offenses are punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
