Students at Ilia State University have issued a warning to opposition parties, urging them not to participate in the upcoming local elections. In a statement released today, the students said, “We want to address the opposition: do not dare to participate in the local elections, or you will face consequences from us.”
The students also announced that their next rally will take place on June 6, at 5:00 PM behind the Parliament building. “The fight continues until victory,” they declared. “We call on everyone to join us and defend Georgia. We urge all students to stand with us, regardless of the grade or score in a Russian-occupied country. Freedom is priceless, and solidarity and empathy are what truly matter.”
The statement continued, “This country’s history is a long struggle for freedom. Now it is our turn, and we are shaping tomorrow. Believe in your strength, do not trust the propaganda, and join us. The victory flag is in our hands, and we have no right to stop.”
The students emphasized that this is “a time for uncompromising struggle, not cooperation with the regime,” and threatened consequences for any opposition parties who decide to take part in the local elections.
Today, Ilia State University students also announced a one-day strike to support their demands.
