Students of Ilia State University have protested against a reform announced by the Ministry of Education of Georgia, which they say could lead to the cancellation of numerous academic programmes.
The protesters gathered outside the university in the Georgian capital city of Tbilisi before marching towards the education ministry.
According to the students, the ruling Georgian Dream party considers Ilia State University a problem, which they claim is linked to the suspension of 92 per cent of the university’s programmes - a move they say could lead to the institution’s closure.
The students are demanding that the reform be withdrawn.
