Three people, including one foreign national, have been arrested in Georgia’s Imereti region over the alleged illegal acquisition, possession and sale of a large quantity of narcotics, the Interior Ministry said on Wednesday.

Police seized 107 packages of marijuana allegedly prepared for sale during searches of the suspects and an investigative operation, according to the ministry.

Officers from the Interior Ministry’s Imereti Police Department also carried out controlled purchases of narcotics from one of the suspects under a court order. The transactions were secretly recorded on audio and video.

Police additionally seized materials allegedly used to package the drugs.

The charges carry a maximum sentence of up to 12 years in prison.
