Georgian interior minister Vakhtang Gomelauri on Tuesday briefed the country’s state legislature on his office’s work last year.
In his speech, Gomelauri pointed to the “unprecedentedly high” rate of crime-solving that had been illustrated by the figure standing at over 62 percent.
He also said the body arrested 307 wanted offenders last year, 37 of them wanted by Interpol and found 56 cars searched by the latter, adding 45 offenders had been arrested in various European states with the engagement of Georgian police attaches.
Gomelauri said his office had plans to send attacks to Ireland and Israel in the coming months, noting the country had sent attaches to 16 states who were covering 24 countries.
The minister said granting of the NATO Operational Partner status to the country’s Border Police units last year had been a “key achievement” that could further strengthen cooperation between the country’s Coast Guard and the alliance.
Expressing gratitude to international partners for their support in institutional buildup, the official pledged to further strengthen ties with them.
