Let’s imagine a war going on in Georgia today. I do not want to get into the details, and we all know what will happen here—our beautiful country will turn into a war zone, and this is not an overassessment. This is a real threat that I want everyone to understand well, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated on Imedi TV.
“Moreover, I would say that the good thing about over the past few days—and I want to emphasize this—is that the full lustration of these people took place. Let’s start with the fact that 300 NGOs came together to join this petition, meaning the organizers of this rally. Add to that the collective National Movement, Girchi, these clubs and organizations they have established, and of course their goal—and I repeat—was to instigate destabilization and concrete provocations. I do not rule out this possibility—and I repeat that we have information about their plans—and, of course, their ultimate goal, as they themselves say, was to help Ukraine in this war. How? By opening a second front. Where does the term second front come from? Many believe—and, among them, our foreign partners asked me about the origin of the term second front. I explained to them that it comes from Ukraine’s authorities. A few months ago, we heard it from the admission of Danilov, a senior Ukrainian official, Secretary of the National Security Council, when he, in a press-conference, stated that what they wanted was to open a second front in Georgia. And he added that not just their women and children had to die, but this war also had to spread to Georgia and Moldova.
“Now that we have heard it all, and everything is supported by facts, Saakashvili’s dispatching, their intentions, and then demonstratively, provocatively taking fighters, and so on, and you, voluntarily or involuntarily, are helping it all, and are naturally in support of war—and it is no coincidence that we call them the war party, those who want a war. They, these people, know that it is impossible for the National Movement—this destructive, abusive force—to come back to power through elections. Consequently, their small chance in a way, however theoretical, is to remove the Government by violent force, to carry out a coup, based on some topics, any topics—this one, for example—and then to gain foothold in power by launching something that will enable them to consolidate. And what is the means of consolidating power? Under these circumstances, it is a war. In war, authorities can commit any lawlessness. Look what is happening. No TV station or opposition will operate. They will settle scores with everyone, and then they will come out and say that they are fighting against Russia. To model all this, they are calling us out for not joining the war. Let’s imagine a war going on in Georgia today. I do not want to get into the details, and we all know what will happen here—our beautiful country will turn into a war zone, and this is not an overassessment. This is a real threat that I want everyone to understand well,” the Prime Minister stated.
