The city, with its casinos, offices, banks, – the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili said at the presentation of the Georgian Dream Khelvachauri mayoral candidate Zaza Diasamidze.

As the head of government noted, work is currently underway on the concept, which will be completed by the end of the year.

“I want to share one important information – we are in this historical, beautiful place, in the famous Gonio prison. Here we know that there is also a unique place – the former Gonio landfill, which is about 300 hectares, and even more.

On my instructions, the government is working, including the local government of Adjara, Mr. Tornike Rizhvadze, together with the Ministry of Economy, and we have the following vision that a special economic zone should be created on the site of the former Gonio landfill, with its financial center. In fact, the construction of a new city refers to this project and idea.

We are currently working on a concept that will be completed by the end of the year.

We want to involve the best company and organization that specializes in this field and a new city should be built in Gonio, with its casinos, offices, banks, financial center and, in fact, to bring new life to this region” – said Irakli Gharibashvili.
