“Whatever positive step is taken, what does the opposition say? They simply have to criticize it, however poorly it is almost laughable,” Irakli Kirtskhalia, chairman of the Georgian Dream parliamentary faction and leader of the parliamentary majority, said at a briefing following a meeting of the parliamentary majority.
Kirtskhalia was commenting on the Prime Minister’s decision to allow additional university admissions for applicants.
According to him, the decision is important, necessary and positive.
“When you introduce and begin implementing a reform, it is something new for society and for every specific target group. In this case, we are talking specifically about prospective students. Since this is a new program, it has only recently been announced, and the reform is still at an early stage, applicants have been granted, as an exception, the opportunity to enroll in universities through additional admissions.
“Of course, this is a very good decision, and we all welcome it. Any reasonable person would welcome such a decision,” Kirtskhalia said.
At the initiative of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, 1,795 applicants who met the minimum competency requirements in Georgia’s Unified National Examinations will be given an additional opportunity to enroll in universities.
