The ongoing proceedings at Georgia’s Constitutional Court will be a key issue on the political agenda this week, parliamentary majority leader and Georgian Dream Political Council member Irakli Kirtskhalia said on Monday.
Speaking to journalists following a meeting of the parliamentary majority, Kirtskhalia described Monday’s court proceedings as particularly significant, saying that a statement delivered by the ruling party’s representative had addressed questions and concerns surrounding the case.
“This is a parliamentary session week, with plenary sittings scheduled to begin tomorrow. As usual, we held our parliamentary majority meeting on Monday and discussed a range of issues,” Kirtskhalia said.
“As you know, the Constitutional Court proceedings will be one of the main issues this week. Today was a very important day, and the statement delivered by our representative was of exceptional significance. The public received answers to all those speculative questions, repeated demands for clarification and claims of supposed misunderstanding,” he added.
Kirtskhalia also reiterated the ruling party’s position regarding opposition political groups, accusing them of operating as part of what he described as a network of foreign agents.
“We are doing everything on our part to ensure that the country finally breaks free from the vicious cycle of what we call the activities of an agent network within the opposition,” Kirtskhalia said.
