Georgian Dream leader dismisses EP resolution as ‘false’, ‘politically motivated’

Parliamentary Majority Leader and chairman of the Georgian Dream parliamentary faction, Irakli Kirtskhalia, has criticized the European Parliament's latest resolution on Georgia, describing it as misleading, politically motivated and based on false information.

Commenting on the resolution, Kirtskhalia claimed the document reflects the influence of MEP Rasa Juknevičienė and accused its authors of employing a “confrontational tone, double standards and unfounded allegations.”

"The resolution is saturated with falsehoods from beginning to end," Kirtskhalia said, adding that the ruling party no longer keeps count of how many resolutions concerning Georgia have been adopted by the European Parliament.

He argued that the document contained "fabricated facts based on falsehoods" and "perceptions presented as facts," while accusing some of its initiators of having political affiliations with Georgia's opposition.

Kirtskhalia also accused European lawmakers of applying double standards. He claimed that while European officials publicly criticize political polarization, they simultaneously take actions that, in his view, contribute to greater division within Georgian society.

Referring to discussions surrounding Georgia's visa-free travel regime with the European Union, the ruling party official alleged that certain political groups seek to preserve visa-free access only for selected individuals while disregarding the broader population.
