PM Kobakhidze meets Thai conglomerate chairman to discuss major infrastructure projects

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met ChrisSoopakij Chearavanont, chairman of Thailand’s Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group), to discuss potential investment and cooperation in Georgia, including major infrastructure projects.
The talks focused on opportunities for cooperation in projects of strategic importance to Georgia, with particular attention to the development of the Anaklia Deep Sea Port and the Vaziani International Airport, the government press office said on Friday.
The sides discussed the role of the two projects in strengthening Georgia’s regional connectivity, as well as potential cooperation in the energy sector and the country’s renewable energy resources.
Kobakhidze said the Georgian government welcomed foreign investment and was committed to providing investors with a stable, predictable and attractive business environment.
Charoen Pokphand Group is one of Thailand’s largest business conglomerates, with interests spanning food and agribusiness, retail and e-commerce, telecommunications, property, infrastructure, finance and the automotive industry. The group operates in 23 countries and employs more than 456,000 people, with annual revenues exceeding $100 billion, according to the Georgian government.
Georgia’s Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili and Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani also attended the meeting.
