The Georgian government aims to complete all motorway construction projects by the end of 2031, including the Tbilisi Bypass Road, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Kobakhidze said the government plans to provide a continuous four-lane motorway by 2030 connecting Sarpi with the Red Bridge and Sadakhlo border crossings.
“We have a clear goal - to complete the construction of all motorways by the end of 2031. The Tbilisi Bypass Road is one component of this plan and is important for improving connectivity between the country’s borders,” Kobakhidze said.
He added that the planned motorway would bypass Tbilisi, helping ease traffic congestion in the capital.
“According to our plan, a continuous four-lane motorway will be in place by 2030 from Sarpi to the Red Bridge and Sadakhlo. The motorway will also bypass Tbilisi, which is very important for reducing congestion in the capital. Accordingly, this investment will certainly be implemented,” the PM said.
