Georgia Opens $15 Million Aviation Village in Kachreti

Georgia has opened a new $15 million aviation complex in the eastern Kakheti region, with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze describing the project as a “new chapter” in the country’s aviation history.

The Ambassador Aviation Village, located in Kachreti, is designed to develop general aviation, pilot training and aviation tourism while boosting the local economy and attracting international visitors.

“Today, a new chapter is opening in the history of Georgian aviation,” Kobakhidze said at the opening ceremony. “This is a major infrastructure project, the Ambassador Aviation Village, which will turn Kachreti into a regional hub for general aviation and aviation tourism.”

The $15 million development covers 16 hectares and includes a modern airfield, an international-standard flight academy, an aviation club and a residential complex of aviation villas.

According to Kobakhidze, the project will also provide Georgian students with opportunities to train as professional pilots and obtain internationally recognised aviation licences.

“This project opens up international opportunities for our young people. Highly qualified pilots will be trained here and will receive internationally recognised licences,” he said.

Nearly 30 crews of experienced European pilots travelled to Georgia for the opening. Kobakhidze said their participation reflected Georgia’s growing presence on the international aviation map.

The Prime Minister also linked the Kachreti development to Georgia’s broader plans to expand its aviation infrastructure.

“I am confident that the Kachreti airfield and, in the future, the aviation facilities planned for Batumi’s artificial island will form an integrated network that will take our country’s connectivity and economic potential to an entirely new level,” he said.

Kobakhidze thanked those involved in developing the project, including Goga Keburia and Tornike Keburia, whom he described as key figures behind the initiative.

He concluded by wishing pilots safe flights and the Ambassador Aviation Village success in its future operations.
