The World Bank has raised its forecast for Georgia’s economic growth to 7%, up from 5% previously, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said at a government meeting on Wednesday.

Kobakhidze said the forecast had been increased by two percentage points from the estimate published in June, describing the revision as evidence of positive trends in the Georgian economy.

“This forecast is 2.6 times higher than the average for other EU candidate countries,” Kobakhidze said.

He also said that, according to the World Bank’s projections, Georgia would record the highest economic growth among European countries over the 2026-2028 period.

Kobakhidze said maintaining the economic growth trend would remain one of the government’s main priorities.
