French President Emmanuel Macron has invited Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to the first international summit dedicated to space, which will be held in Paris on 9-10 September.
France and Germany will co-chair the summit, which will focus on science, research, security and defence, the Government press office said on Thursday.
In his invitation, Macron described space as an increasingly important driver of power and prosperity, citing rapid industrial development, the growing civil and military use of space and intensifying international competition.
He said the summit would provide an opportunity to strengthen dialogue and cooperation not only between states, but also among companies and multilateral organisations.
Macron also said the meeting would address the sustainable and responsible development of the space economy and seek concrete measures to strengthen international cooperation on space-related challenges.
The French president said the participating countries would have an opportunity to showcase the expertise of their space industries and agencies and strengthen cooperation at scientific, industrial, technical and economic levels.
