PM Kobakhidze meets Council of Europe secretary general Berset

The prime minister underlined the government’s commitment to protecting fundamental freedoms, advancing democratic reforms and ensuring the rule of law

PM Irakli Kobakhidze has met Alain Berset, Council of Europe secretary general ,with talks focusing on cooperation between Georgia and the CoE.
The meeting highlighted what it described as productive collaboration between Georgia and the Council of Europe, the Government press office said.
Kobakhidze reaffirmed the government’s readiness for dialogue and constructive engagement in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
The Georgian side also expressed concern over what it called a growing trend of using international mechanisms for politically motivated purposes, and voiced hope that such practices would change.
The prime minister underlined the government’s commitment to protecting fundamental freedoms, advancing democratic reforms and ensuring the rule of law.
The meeting was also attended by Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili and head of the government administration Levan Zhorzholiani.
