PM Kobakhidze announces Gudauri ski resort upgrades ahead of winter season

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has announced a series of infrastructure upgrades at the Gudauri ski resort, including artificial snowmaking systems, new ski lifts and expanded slopes, as the government prepares for the upcoming winter season.

Speaking at a government meeting on Wednesday, Kobakhidze said the projects were intended to enhance the resort's facilities before the start of the 2026-27 ski season.

The planned upgrades include the installation of an artificial snowmaking system covering 7.5km of ski slopes, aimed at improving snow reliability during the winter.

The government also plans to install two new surface ski lifts (button lifts) in the snow park area, with a combined length of 1.4km, as well as a 200-metre covered conveyor lift for children.

In addition, two new ski runs with a combined length of 6km will be developed, while the new slope will be equipped with floodlighting to enable night skiing.

Kobakhidze said all of the planned works are expected to be completed by December, ahead of the opening of the winter tourism season.
