Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has accused international human rights organisation Amnesty International of repeatedly spreading false information, claiming that the group has lost credibility among the Georgian public.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze criticised the organisation’s public statements on Georgia, alleging that they had frequently been based on misinformation and disinformation.
“On numerous occasions, this organisation has disseminated false information and issued statements based on disinformation. As a result, unfortunately, it has lost the trust of Georgian society,” Kobakhidze said.
“That is the reality. Therefore, I am not at all surprised by Marco Rubio’s attitude towards this organisation,” the prime minister added, referring to the US Secretary of State.
Kobakhidze did not specify which Amnesty International statements he was referring to in the remarks provided, nor did he cite specific examples of alleged inaccuracies.
Amnesty International is an international human rights organisation that monitors and reports on alleged human rights violations worldwide.
