Lasting peace cannot be achieved through the use of force and must instead be built on dialogue, mutual understanding and mutual respect, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in his address to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Kobakhidze said preserving peace and strengthening international cooperation remained top priorities amid growing global challenges.
“It is a great honour to address this Assembly on behalf of Georgia, a country whose identity has been shaped by centuries of history, resilience and engagement with a changing world.
“We gather here today at a time when the international landscape is undergoing significant changes. Developments across different regions of the world are challenging the status quo and raising questions about the future of the international order. In these circumstances, preserving peace and strengthening international cooperation remain paramount priorities,” Kobakhidze said.
The prime minister stressed that addressing shared global challenges, preventing conflicts and achieving the goals of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development would require stronger international cooperation and a collective commitment to action.
“Against the backdrop of growing global challenges, a coordinated response to shared obstacles, conflict prevention and the achievement of the goals set out in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will only be possible through stronger international cooperation and a shared responsibility for collective action.
“Lasting peace cannot be achieved through the use of force. It must be founded on dialogue, mutual understanding and mutual respect,” Kobakhidze said.
