Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has reiterated that restoring the country’s strategic partnership with the United States remains his government’s main objective.
Speaking to the press on Friday, Kobakhidze said the issue was discussed during his recent meeting with US Chargé d’Affaires Courtney Austrian.
He accused the previous US administration of taking a “very harsh step” by suspending the strategic partnership between the two countries during the period between the US presidential election and inauguration.
Kobakhidze also criticised the previous administration’s representatives, accusing them of making false statements and attacking Georgia and its people.
“We once again conveyed to the chargé d’affaires our desire to restore the strategic partnership. This is our main goal, and our meeting focused precisely on this issue,” Kobakhidze said.
