Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has accused European officials of applying double standards by remaining silent on what he described as serious actions against constitutional justice in other cases while criticising Georgia’s Constitutional Court over its consideration of a lawsuit against opposition parties.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, Kobakhidze said the court was facing “direct and harsh political attacks” simply for reviewing a case, regardless of its significance.

“Of course, there are double standards here as well. There are specific, very serious actions, yet European bureaucrats remain silent about them because they have different political interests,” Kobakhidze said.

He added that when Georgia’s Constitutional Court considers a particular lawsuit, it faces direct political attacks.

“Unfortunately, modern international politics is not based on rules, and European bureaucrats operate outside those rules. This is entirely evident to Georgian society,” he said.
