Kobakhidze: Georgia’s strategic position makes it a key link between Central Asia and Europe

Georgia’s position in the South Caucasus and along the Middle Corridor places it in a favourable position to strengthen connectivity between Central Asia and Europe, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in his address to the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Kobakhidze said Georgia’s strategic location and direct access to the Black Sea facilitate trade and investment while providing landlocked countries with opportunities to connect to global supply chains.

“Georgia is an integral part of the South Caucasus and the Middle Corridor, placing us in a favourable position to further strengthen connectivity between Central Asia and Europe.

“Our strategic location and direct access to the Black Sea facilitate trade and investment. They also provide landlocked countries with opportunities to connect to global supply chains.

“Through our free trade agreements, we have established a network that provides access to a market of approximately 2.3 billion consumers,” Kobakhidze said.
