Irakli Nadiradze, a leader of the United National Movement (UNM), has alleged that authorities are conducting daily interrogations targeting multiple political and business figures connected to former Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
Nadiradze on Tuesday claimed that the interrogations involved individuals including ex- Infrastructure Minister Irakli Karseladze, former Health Minister Zurab Azarashvili, Garibashvili himself, and members of Garibashvili’s family. He claimed that [the ruling party founder and honorary chair Bidzina] Ivanishvili had already “issued a verdict” against them and that the authorities were pressuring witnesses to reveal details of alleged corruption schemes involving Garibashvili.
“Witnesses and evidence exist, but daily intensive interrogations continue to pressure people and monitor potential targets of Ivanishvili,” Nadiradze said.
He added that the interrogations aimed to compel witnesses to disclose information about “all the criminal corruption schemes” in which the individuals were allegedly involved before the October 4 municipal race.
