Majority of Georgians support opposition’s participation in 2025 local elections, poll

According to a new survey by the Institute for Social Studies and Analysis (ISSA), 54.5% of respondents believe that opposition parties should take part in Georgia’s 2025 local elections.
When asked whether opposition parties should participate in the upcoming municipal elections, responses were distributed as follows:
Yes – 54.4%
No – 22.3%
Don’t know/Refused to answer – 23.2%
The data reveals notable differences between Tbilisi and the regions. In the capital, support for opposition participation stands at 50%, while the remaining 50% either oppose it or declined to answer. In the regions, 56.4% favor the opposition’s involvement in the elections.
The nationwide public opinion poll included 2,000 respondents and was conducted through face-to-face interviews between May 5 and 20, 2025. The research was carried out by ISSA in cooperation with the US-based organization Rosner Research LLC.
