Italian Embassy offers condolences on death of Georgia’s Patriarch Ilia II

The Italian Embassy in Georgia has expressed sincere condolences to the Georgian people following the death of His Holiness, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II, describing him as the nation’s spiritual father.

In its statement, the Embassy said “we sincerely mourn with the Georgian people on the passing of His Holiness, Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia.”

Patriarch Ilia II, who led the Georgian Orthodox Church for decades, passed away on 17 March at the age of 93.
